Yoga is an ancient practice which brings together physical, mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derived from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.Yoga is a form of exercise that is performed through diet, breathing and physical posture. Since five years, International Yoga Day has been celebrated annually. International Yoga Day is also known as World Yoga Day. 

On 11 December, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21st June every year by resolution 69/131.

The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

International Yoga Day 2021: This year, 7th International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21 June. 

This year the theme of International Yoga Day (IDY) is ‘Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home’.

Students of Young Ladies High School have learnt and practiced yoga for better tomorrow. We have celebrated online Yoga Day with our students with many aasanas and yoga positions. Our students have learnt the benefits of yoga and they will implement those benefits in their day to day life.
